Common questions

How do I set up my bins?

Tap Start with Bins, give the bin a name and colour, choose the collection day and how often it's collected, then pick the next collection date. Check your council's website if you're not sure. For over 170 councils, you can pop in your postcode and choose Fill in my bins instead.

My council moved a collection (bank holiday). What do I do?

Done & Dustd asks you in bank holiday weeks. You can also open Calendar, tap the day, and choose Day later, Skip, or Another day.

How do housemates join?

The person who set up the household opens House → Share with housemates and sends the link or shows the QR code. Housemates tap the link, or open Done & Dustd, tap Joining someone’s house? and scan the QR code. Joining is free.

I tapped a join link and it opened a web page.

That happens when Done & Dustd isn't installed yet. Get it from the App Store, then go back and tap the link again. Or, in the app, tap Joining someone’s house? and paste it.

We changed something. Why don't all phones match?

After a change, tap Share and send the new link or QR code. Each phone shows who last updated it.

I'm not getting reminders.

Settings → Reminders must be on, and notifications must be allowed for Done & Dustd in your iPhone's Settings → Notifications.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Done & Dustd → Cancel. Or in Done & Dustd: Settings → Manage Household subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.

How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?

Open the Household screen and tap Restore. Use the same Apple ID you bought with.

How do I leave a household or delete my data?

House → Leave household. Your phone is removed from our server as soon as it can connect, and when the last person leaves, the household is deleted. Deleting the app removes everything on your phone. Anything else: email us.

Refunds?

Apple handles payments and refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Is my data safe?

No account needed. On your own, everything stays on your phone. Shared households keep the house name, first names, the shared bins, days, turns and ticks, and a random ID per phone on our UK server, so every phone in the house matches. Read the privacy policy.
