Terms of use
Last updated 14 October 2026 (v1.4)
These terms cover Done & Dustd ("the app"), made by Charles Rahbani, a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). They sit alongside Apple's standard licence agreement for App Store apps (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula). By using the app you agree to both. If the two ever conflict about something only we control (like Household features), these terms apply.
1. The short version
- Using Done & Dustd on your own is free.
- Household is optional: £1.99 a month or £19.99 a year (renews until you cancel), or a one-off Lifetime purchase (£29.99 "Founder" price for the first 500 Lifetime purchases, then £39.99). Housemates join free.
- Apple takes the payment. You cancel and ask for refunds through Apple.
- Bin days come from your council, from BinDays or from you. Councils change things, so check if a date looks wrong.
- Your legal rights as a consumer aren't affected by anything here.
2. Who can use it
Done & Dustd is for people running a home in the UK. You need to be 13 or over to set up or join a household on your own phone; a parent can add a younger child's first name to the rota. If you're under 18, check with a parent before buying anything.
3. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, under Apple's rules. You may not copy, resell or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows. The app, its design, its bins and badges, and the name "Done & Dustd" are ours.
4. Using the app fairly
Please don't:
- add someone to a household without their say-so, or use a name that isn't theirs to embarrass them;
- use nudges to harass anyone;
- try to get into other people's households, our server, or the services we use;
- use the app or its data sources (including BinDays and council websites) in bulk or by automated means.
We may remove a household or a phone from a household that breaks these rules, and we'll tell you why where we can. To report misuse, email done.dustd@gmail.com.
5. Names and things you add
Household names and first names you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them to the people in your household so the app works. Only add first names of people who are happy to be in your household. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle them.
6. Household subscription
- Household costs £1.99 a month or £19.99 a year, including VAT (or the price shown in the App Store when you buy). The price is shown in the app before you pay.
- It renews automatically at the same length until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- If you cancel, Household stays on until the end of the period you've paid for.
- One person in the house pays; everyone else in that household gets Household free (see section 7).
- If we change the price, Apple will tell you before it applies and you can cancel before then.
7. Households
- A household can have up to 12 people. One person's Household plan (subscription or Lifetime) covers everyone in it.
- If the person who pays cancels, gets a refund or leaves, Household features may stop for the house at the end of what they paid for, unless someone else in the house has Household. Your bins, rota and reminders on each phone keep working on the free plan.
- Anyone in the household can change the rota and use Free up a spot to remove a phone from the household. Be kind: it's a shared house.
- Everyone in the household can see the household name, bins, days, turns and first names.
- Your household link and QR code include an invite: anyone who has it can join until it is reset with Free up a spot. Keep it to your household.
8. Lifetime (and the Founder price)
- Lifetime is the one-off Household option, with no renewals.
- Founder price: the first 500 Lifetime purchases cost £29.99 including VAT. After that, Lifetime costs £39.99 including VAT. The price that applies is the one shown in the App Store when you buy.
- We count purchases through the App Store. A price change can take a little while to reach the App Store, so a few purchases may go through at £29.99 after the 500th; we'll honour them. We won't show a "spots left" count unless it comes from real sales.
- Founder and later Lifetime buyers get exactly the same Household features; the only difference is the price paid.
- "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer Done & Dustd, not for ever. If we ever stop offering the app, we'll give at least 90 days' notice in the app (see section 12).
- Restore it on a new phone with the same Apple ID (Household screen → Restore).
9. Cancelling, cooling-off and refunds
Apple sells and bills Household, and handles cancellations and refunds. Apple's terms explain your right to cancel within 14 days of buying; ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. Your other rights below always apply. If the law gives you new rights for subscriptions (the UK's new subscription rules are expected from 2027), we'll follow them and update these terms.
10. Your rights if something's wrong
Under UK consumer law, digital content you pay for must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it isn't, you can ask us to fix it, and if we can't within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to some or all of your money back. If the app damages your device or other content because we didn't take reasonable care, we'll repair it or pay you compensation. Citizens Advice can explain your rights.
11. Bin days and reminders
We work hard to get dates right, but they come from your council's website (often read with help from BinDays, an independent service), from GOV.UK's bank holiday list, or from what you type in. Councils change rounds, and phones can silence notifications. Done & Dustd is a helper, not a guarantee: if a date looks wrong, check with your council. We may stop automatic dates for a council if its website changes or it asks us to; you can always type your days in.
12. Changes to the app, and if it closes
We keep improving the app and may change or remove features. We won't take away a paid feature during a period you've paid for. If we decide to close Done & Dustd, we'll give at least 90 days' notice in the app and stop selling Household straight away; from the day we give notice, subscriptions won't renew again, so nobody pays for a period that runs past the closing date. After it closes, shared households and nudges stop because they need our server, and automatic bin dates may stop because they need the internet; your own bins and reminders keep working as long as your phone runs the app. If you think you're owed money, for example for Lifetime bought shortly before a closure notice, contact us and Apple; your rights under section 10 still apply.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law or the app changes. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. If you don't agree, you can stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
14. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under UK consumer law, or our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we're responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably foresee, for business losses (the app is for home use), or for problems caused by your council, Apple, BinDays or your phone's settings that we couldn't reasonably have prevented.
15. Ending
You can stop at any time: leave your household (House → Leave household), cancel any subscription in Apple, and delete the app. We may end your use of shared features if you seriously or repeatedly break section 4. What happens to your information is in the Privacy Policy.
16. Complaints
Tell us first at done.dustd@gmail.com and we'll reply within 14 days. If we can't sort it out, you can contact Citizens Advice, or Apple about a payment.
17. Credits
Bank holiday dates from GOV.UK under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Automatic bin days with help from BinDays. Council know-how from UKBinCollectionData and Waste Collection Schedule (MIT licence). The app uses open-source software and fonts, credited with their licences in the app under Settings → Open-source notices.
18. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
